Product profile

About GHK-CU

GHK-Cu is a naturally occurring copper complex formed by the tripeptide glycyl-L-histidyl-L-lysine (GHK) and a copper (Cu²⁺) ion. It was first isolated from human plasma in 1973 by Dr. Loren Pickart. The tripeptide GHK possesses an exceptionally high affinity for copper ions, forming a stable complex that naturally exists in the human body. Copper is the key functional element, serving as a cofactor for enzymes such as superoxide dismutase (SOD), while GHK acts as a carrier to safely deliver copper into cells, avoiding the toxicity of free copper ions.

Main functions

  • 1.Promotes Collagen and Elastin Synthesis: Stimulates fibroblast production of collagen and elastin, increasing skin thickness and reducing fine lines and wrinkles. In vitro studies have shown its collagen-promoting effects to be even more potent than retinoic acid and vitamin C.
  • 2.Potent Antioxidant Activity: Enhances SOD activity by providing copper ions, scavenging free radicals and peroxides to protect cells from oxidative damage. Recent studies confirm that GHK-Cu downregulates the JAK1 pathway and reduces pro-inflammatory cytokines (TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-6), demonstrating clear anti-inflammatory effects.
  • 3.Promotes Wound Healing and Tissue Repair: Stimulates angiogenesis (VEGF), cell proliferation, and collagen deposition, accelerating the healing of acute and chronic wounds. Recent research is exploring its application in injectable soft tissue fillers, where sustained GHK-Cu release mitigates inflammation induced by implant materials.
  • 4.Gene Regulation and Cellular Regeneration: Capable of upregulating and downregulating a large number of human genes, including those involved in neuronal development and tissue remodeling, suggesting regenerative potential beyond the skin.
  • 5.Promotes Angiogenesis and Osteogenesis: Recent studies show that GHK-Cu promotes the expression of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and bone morphogenetic protein-2 (BMP-2), demonstrating promising applications in bone regeneration.

Recommended audience

  • Individuals focused on skin anti-aging (reducing wrinkles, improving elasticity) and skin barrier repair.
  • Those requiring accelerated wound healing or enhanced tissue repair post-injury or post-surgery.
  • Researchers are exploring its potential in neurodegenerative conditions (e.g., Alzheimer's disease) due to its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and gene-regulatory properties relevant to cognitive health.
  • Health-conscious individuals seeking comprehensive tissue regeneration and anti-aging benefits.
