About Matrixyl
Matrixyl (INCI: Palmitoyl Pentapeptide-4) is a landmark signaling peptide in the cosmetic industry, first launched by the French cosmetic ingredient company Sederma in 2000. Its chemical structure consists of the pentapeptide KTTKS (Lys-Thr-Thr-Lys-Ser) with a 16-carbon palmitic acid chain attached to the N-terminus. This lipidation enhances the peptide's stability and skin penetration, enabling it to effectively reach the dermis. Matrixyl is a type of "Matrikine"—a fragment of the extracellular matrix that acts as a signaling molecule, instructing surrounding cells to initiate tissue repair processes. It is a pioneering ingredient in its field, with its mechanism of action validated by independent scientific research. Subsequently, the Matrixyl family has expanded to include Matrixyl 3000® (a combination of Palmitoyl Tripeptide-1 and Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7) and Matrixyl synthe’6®.

"Stimulates Collagen Synthesis: The core efficacy of Matrixyl is to promote collagen production by dermal fibroblasts. Independent research by the University of Reading confirmed that Matrixyl can increase collagen production by up to 70% in human skin fibroblasts in vitro. Further studies demonstrate that Matrixyl effectively stimulates collagen production in human dermal fibroblasts (HDFa) at low concentrations (0.0062 wt%).
Reduces Wrinkles and Improves Skin Texture: By increasing collagen density and improving the extracellular matrix structure in the dermis, Matrixyl helps fill wrinkles, improve skin firmness and elasticity, and visually smooth the skin.
